Supporters of education in Caddo concerned about budget cuts

CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) – Education advocates take aim at Governor Jindal for deep budget cuts, calling him the "Jindal who stole Christmas."

Things got heated at Tuesday night's Caddo Parish School Board meeting.

Proposed budget cuts announced last week would take more than $8 million from Caddo Schools.

Music and art programs are just some of the things Caddo school leaders say would suffer if proposed cuts pass on Friday.

"If it happens now, it could happen again," says Dr. Gerald Dawkins, Caddo Parish Schools Superintendent.

"These resources are too valuable, too scarce, and we can't let them slide away from our children."

On Friday, November 19, representatives from the Caddo Federation of Teachers, along with Superintendent Dawkins, will make a trip to the state capitol.
