SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A convicted felon is back behind bars Wednesday after Shreveport Police allegedly found a stolen gun and drugs in his possession.

Shreveport Police say 22-year-old Cortrell Young is in jail after being arrested by officers over the weekend in connection to an alleged street fight in one Shreveport neighborhood.

According to police, the investigation in Young began after officers responded to a reported fight in the 2900 block of Peach St. Police say several suspects were detained as a result, but Young was found to have a Glock semi-automatic gun and allegedly was in possession of marijuana.

Upon further digging, officers learned that the gun that Young allegedly had in his possession had been reportedly stolen in a car burglary back in August and that Young is reportedly a convicted felon.

Young remains in the Shreveport City Jail now facing charges of possession of a stolen firearm, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a Schedule I narcotic and illegal carrying of weapons while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
