Local doctor accused of aiming gun at Shreveport Police

Physician is well known kidney specialist

Shreveport, LA (KSLA) – Police have in custody Dr. John S. Kilpatrick, MD, a prominent local kidney specialist, after he reportedly aimed a loaded semi-automatic handgun at officers early this morning near his medical practice on Line Avenue.

Police tell KSLA News 12 that Dr. Kilpatrick claimed he had phoned police to report a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a medical office at Line Ave and Olive Street. But, when police arrived, they found Kilpatrick allegedly pointing a gun at them.

Officers ordered Kilpatrick to lower his weapon, which he did, and then complained of feeling ill. He was taken to LSU Hospital where he was being evaluated.

As of this moment, SPD had no update on charges, if any, that Kilpatrick could be facing after this morning's incident.
