Innocent motorist killed in Longview high speed chase

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A high speed chase Wednesday morning November 10th, leads to the death of an innocent Longview man.
According Harrison County DPS, troopers were pursuing a white pick-up truck driven by Charles Ray Owens Jr., 37 of Longview. Owens had a warrant for his arrest for burglary, out of Michigan. Although he was originally from Michigan, he was currently living and working in Longview.
The high speed chase ended when Owen's truck entered the intersection of E. Loop 281 and Page Rd. and T-boned a burgundy Honda Accord, killing the driver, 62-year-old Robert E. Smith of Longview.
Charles Ray Owens Jr. was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
