SHREVEPORT, LA(KSLA)- It is an alarming figure for Shreveport, as it turns out, more than 1 in every 4 people in Shreveport are living in poverty. And what's even more striking is that 40 percent of them are children.
These alarming facts have become the inspiration behind something called "the Poor Man's Supper."
This year, Virginia Shee will receive the "Sister Margaret McCaffrey award 2010"
The event will be held Sunday at 5:30 pm at First United Methodist Church on Texas Street.
With a donation of five dollars, you will be served soup and bread and get a chance to meet members of the Hospitality House.
The purpose of the fundraiser is to raise money for the twice daily feedings, every single day, at "Christian Service's Hospitality House."
It will also helps raise awareness about the plight of the poor, homeless and undeserved.
