SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – Shreveport's Director of Operational Services has announced just a day after Mayor Glover's re-election that he will resign.
Mike Strong says it's nothing personal, and he would have resigned sooner, but he thought it might be a distraction for the election.
Strong is in charge of the city's infrastructure, which includes water and sewer, a failing system that will cost millions to repair.
"If I could do it tomorrow, I would do it, and it would be to get the funding to be able to handle our water and sewer issues, I think that's probably one of the most critical things," said Strong.
The city has been mandated to spend millions of dollars to improve that system, but has come up short on funds.
City leaders are now considering a bond to pay for it.
