Police searching for suspects in two armed robberies

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) –Two armed robberies Friday morning left convenience store employees and customers shaken up, and police looking for 2 suspects.

The first happened just after 9 a.m. at the Texaco Night and Day Convenience Store on Mansfield Road. Two men wearing light clothes and masks robbed the clerk and another customer. Only 30 minutes later, police believe the same 2 men robbed another clerk and customer at the Mobil gas station near Bert Kouns and I-20. Witnesses at both crime scenes say they left in a white SUV.

Reports of armed robberies like these make Exxon cashier Debbie Alexander nervous.

"Just a little bit. Mostly at night. Mostly at night. It's ok during the day time," she said.

Police say there are some ways to prevent these crimes, starting with good customer service. Usually robbers have been in their victim's store before to scope out how they do business.

"Make sure you tell your employees to greet them. Look them in the eye. Let them know that they have been seen," said Bill Goodin with the Shreveport Police Department.

If you are robbed, police suggest you do what the robber tells you for safety reasons.

"There's nothing in that store that's worth anybody's life or worth anybody getting injured," said Goodin.

Police say if you are robbed, one of the first things you should do after they leave is lock the door so they can't get back in.  By doing this you also preserve any evidence. Then, check to see if anyone is hurt and call 911 immediately.

If you can see their license plate or any distinguishing features write these down to tell investigators. While you can't control what happens, you can control how you react, and that could help catch the criminal.
