Power back on in Bossier City after overnight outage

BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) – Power has been restored to folks in Bossier City.

A huge area of Bossier City woke up Thursday morning to no electricity because of a substation failure in the area overnight.

Officials with AEP SWEPCO say there was a major failure overnight at their power substation just south of Barksdale Air Force Base.

The initial outage left around 4700 residents without power. By 7:00 am the number was down to about 1600 customers.

SWEPCO Spokesman Scott McCloud tells KSLA News 12 that the substation malfunction is in the Bel Air subdivision. He said cooler weather and a lower load helped get the power back on.
