Two local officers receive the Trey Hutchinson Award

Shreveport, LA (KSLA)- Two local law enforcement officers have been honored and given a major award for fighting domestic violence.

The 7th annual Trey Hutchinson Award was given to Tech Sgt. Jonathan Walsh with the US Air Force who also works as a reserve officer for Bossier Police and to Corporal Robert Norman from the Shreveport Police Department.

The Trey Hutchinson award recognizes officers from Caddo and Bossier Parish who fight to stop and prevent domestic violence while also reaching out to the victims.

The two Shreveport-Bossier law enforcement officers received recognition during a special luncheon at Ernest's Orleans Restaurant.

"It's a great honor; I believe in giving back and I am glad I had the chance and the opportunity to do so as it benefits the victims, that's why I like to do it," said Tech. Sgt. Jonathan L. Walsh

"We like to work together and It's brotherhood of officers and we are really appreciative of this award I am receiving today," said Officer Robert Norman with the Shreveport Police Department.

The award is named after Officer Trey Hutchinson who died in the line of duty while responding to a domestic violence call.
