CSO identify driver of Vivian crash, now in critical condition

CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) – Officials with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office have now identified the victim of an early morning crash in North Caddo Parish.

As of right now, 18-year-old William Lee Whittington of Rodessa, Louisiana remains at LSU Health Sciences Center in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in critical condition, that's according to hospital officials.

The accident happened shortly after 5 a.m. off Highway 1 at Kendrick Rd., which is just north of Vivian.

Caddo Parish Sheriff's Deputies on scene of the crash say that an 18-year-old man was driving his pick up truck along Hwy. 1 when at some point he may have fallen asleep, his vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Officials say he was trapped in the car for more than an hour before they were able to free him.

He was taken to LSU Health Sciences Center for treatment of a leg injury, officials have yet to release the victim's name or his condition, but it is believed that he will be okay.
