Shreveport man behind bars after discharging firearm

Shreveport, La(KSLA)- A local man is behind bars tonight after allegedly shooting at another man during a dispute.

Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a shots fired call in the 6100 block of Tierra Drive. It happened around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. When officers arrived, they found a group of people gathered outside of an apartment complex. Witnesses there told police an SUV drove past them and at least one of the occupants in it fired shots at the crowd. No one was injured.

According to Shreveport Police, investigating officers discovered that the suspects apparently fired at the victims because an ongoing dispute regarding a reported robbery that occurred on Friday.

Detectives have been told that a male was robbed by at least one male suspect on Friday and, after the robbery, 29 year old Courtney Ray approached a person he apparently believed was involved and fired shots at him.

Patrol officers located Ray, of the 6500 block of Tierra Drive in Shreveport, later on in the afternoon arrested him for several outstanding traffic warrants. Courtney Ray was booked into the Shreveport City Jail where investigators later charged him with one count of illegal use of a weapon in reference to Friday's shooting.

Detectives are working at this time to identify who fired the shots from the moving vehicle Saturday afternoon and to sort out exactly what happened on Friday relative to the reported robbery.
