18 wheeler temporarily affects morning commute

Shreveport, LA (KSLA) – An 18-wheeler carrying flammable cargo became temporarily disabled Thursday morning and forced Shreveport Police to temporarily shutdown part of a Shreveport interstate.

Police say they received a call just before 5 a.m. of an 18 wheeler experiencing a mechanical failure and forced to pull over on 3132 westbound between Jewella Ave. and Linwood Ave.

The 18 wheeler, according to police was carrying flammable cargo and as a precaution officers shutdown that part of the highway and diverted traffic off at Linwood Ave.

Police report no leak or spill of any of the flammable material and around 8:30 a.m. police confirmed that the westbound lane of 3132 between Jewella Ave. and Linwood Ave. had been reopened.
