Fmr. S'port Police Chief sworn in as LA U.S. Marshal

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Happening right now in downtown Shreveport, former Shreveport Police Chief, Henry Whitehorn gets sworn in as the new U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Louisiana.

The ceremony is being held at the Federal Courthouse, located in downtown Shreveport.

President Barack Obama appointed Whitehorn to the U.S. Marshal post back in June 2009.

The appointment came months after a formal recommendation from U.S. Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) and the U.S. Senate's confirmation.

Before being Shreveport's Police Chief, Whitehorn had been a Louisiana State Police Superintendent.
