SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – Members of the Shreveport Corps of The Salvation Army report Wednesday plans to render aid to fire crews in Webster Parish still battling the Lake Bistineau wildfire.
Salvation Army volunteers say that since Saturday, October 2…volunteers have been providing firefighters with food and hydration and their service will continue through at least Tuesday, Oct. 12.
As of Wednesday, firefighters from multiple departments in Bossier, Bienville, Caddo and Webster Parishes have been struggling with a stubborn swamp fire on Lake Bistineau since Labor Day 2010.
Salvation Army volunteers say that homes have been threatened by the fire, but so far no significant structures have been threatened by this fire.
