Car crash in Red River Parish; One seriously injured

Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- Louisiana State Troopers are investigating a crash involving a Ford F-150 truck and a forestry truck carrying a bulldozer. The accident happened around 9:50 pm in Red River Parish.

According to Louisiana State Trooper William Cordell, the Ford F-150 truck was driving southbound on US-71 just North of Coushatta at Furgeson Road, and for unknown reasons crossed into the northbound lane into the path of the forestry truck hauling a bulldozer.

The driver of the forestry truck attempted to avoid the truck by streeing to the right but was unsuccessful. Both vehicles collided at the front left fenders and the forestry truck came to rest in the southbound lane facing north and the Ford F-150 came to rest on the left shoulder southbound on 71.

As a result of the impact, the driver of the Ford truck sustained serious life threatening injuries and was subsequently airlifted to LSU medical center where his condition is unknown. He is reported to be an 18-year old male, but troopers have not released his name yet. The driver of the forestry truck was not injured, and the bulldozer was loaded onto another truck and proceeded to the scene of a fire in the Lake Bistineau area.

Troopers are still on the scene investigating.
