Red River Revel kicks off with music, arts and Cajun flavors

Shreveport, LA (KSLA)- The 35th Annual Red River Revel has kicked off Saturday morning in Downtown Shreveport.

Several bands and events are planned for the eight-day party at Festival Plaza which is considered to be the largest arts festival in northwest Louisiana.

The Red River Revel is also named as one of the top 100 art festivals out of the estimated ten thousand nationwide. Artists from across the country have come to show and sell their art at the revel that includes sculpture, photography, watercolors, jewelry and more.

"When you put the whole package together it's music, food, art," said Kip Holloway, Executive Director of the Red River Revel.

There's lots of new Cajun Food this year including "Cajun Pistols"--a fried bread roll with crabmeat, shrimp, with a crawfish sauce.

The Red River Revel will also feature Wacky Chad who also appeared on America's Got Talent with his extreme pogo skills.

The festival will run from October 2nd-9th. Log on to and for more information on the festival hours, shuttle information and ticket prices.
