Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- The Shreveport Fire Department was busy battling two fires that destroyed two homes overnight.
The first fire happened around 12:17 am at 1943 Myrtle Street. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a one story wood frame home with smoke and flames coming from the windows on one side of the home, threatening the neighboring home beside it.
The crews were able to extinguish the fire within 20 minutes preventing it from damaging the other home. The home suffered moderate fire damage but heavy smoke damage. One occupant in the house was able to escape and did not sustain any injuries.
The second house fire happened around 3:45 am at 3001 Morningside Drive. Fire crews arrived to find a one story brick home with fire and heavy smoke coming from the back and the roof of the home. Fire fighters were also able to control the fire within 20 minutes. The home ended up sustaining heavy fire and smoke damage. Two residents inside the home at the time of the fire escaped and were not injured.The cause of both fires is still under investigation.
Fire Investigators are still investigating the cause of the two fires.
