POLK COUNTY, AR (KSLA) –The Polk County Sheriff's Office along with the U.S. DEA and National Guard were on an operation Thursday in search of marijuana plants around the area.
According to Polk County deputies, a marijuana patch was found during a fly over near the Polk and Howard County lines.
Upon pinpointing an exact location, officers from the Sheriff Departments in both Howard and Polk Counties along with DEA, National Guard and AR State Parks, begin search the area.
Allegedly 100 lbs. of processed marijuana and approximately 1,000 plants were found and reportedly destroyed. Polk County officers estimate the street value of the confiscated items to be approximately $200,000.
Deputies have reason to believe that Thursday's confiscation may be related to a recent operation found in Southern Polk County.
Deputies have also gathered evidence that leads them to believe that the alleged suspect(s) may have been living at the site.
The investigation continues.
