Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- Police are investigating an overnight shooting that happened at I-20 and the I-49 ramp.
According to reports given by the shooting victims, their car had just merged onto I-20 from the Market Street ramp when an unknown vehicle with two occupants began shooting at their vehicle causing the driver to swerve to avoid the gunfire. Their car as a result struck the concrete retaining wall.
All three occupants suffered multiple gunshot wounds and the driver immediately proceeded to the Willis-Knighton Hospital on Greenwood Road for immediate treatment. Two were transferred to LSU Medical Center later on for treatment.
During the course of the incident, the suspect's vehicle collided with two other vehicles on the freeway and according to other drivers and witnesses, two black males were in the suspect's vehicle at the time of the incident and observed the suspect vehicle Westbound on I-20 then exiting I-49.
Witnesses saw the suspects bailing out of the vehicle and jumping the retaining wall, headed North on Murphy Street. Witnesses from both vehicles involved in the collision described one of the suspects as wearing all black armed with a possible assault weapon.
Police arrested Demetrius Johnson,30, and charged him with Attempted First Degree Homicide. Both vehicles driven by the suspect and the victims were impounded for further examination.
