Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- The Shreveport Fire Department had a busy start for Saturday morning after responding to two unrelated fires in two different residential areas that happened within six hours of each other.
The first one happened at 3:30 a.m. at 2710 Ashton Street in the Allendale Neighborhood. Fire crews arrived on scene within three minutes to find heavy smoke and flames extending approximately 15 feet above the roof. It took 6 crews, 18 firefighters and 15 minutes to control the fire.
The house was deemed a total loss by fire officials after flames engulfed more than 50 percent of it.
The second fore happened shortly after 9:30 a.m., at 2784 Rosemont Street in Sunset Acres Community. When fire crews arrived on the scene, heavy smoke was spewing from the windows and the front door. The fire was under control within a few minutes.
According to the Shreveport Fire Department, fortunately, neither of the homeowners was at home at the time of the fires. The exact causes of both fires are under investigation.
