TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) –The Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department announced plans to hold an operation to help area citizens better understand prescription drugs.
Texarkana police say that on September 25 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Texarkana, AR Police Substation inside the Wal-Mart in the 100 block of Arkansas Blvd., the department will hold 'Operation Prescription Drug Take Back.'
Officers say that during that time, Texarkana, Arkansas residents can bring their unused and out of date prescription drugs. Uniformed police officers will be on hand to take the prescription drugs and answer any questions concerned citizens may have.
Once operation Prescription Drug Take Back is over all the medications turned over will be destroyed according to DEA regulations and State laws.
This operation comes on the heels of an increasing problem across the nation of prescription drug abuse, according to Texarkana Police officials.
