Update: LA State Police investigate officer-involved shooting

MANY, LA (KSLA) - Detectives from Louisiana State Police Troop E are investigating an officer involved-shooting that took place in Sabine Parish early Sunday morning, September 5th. It happened around 3:30 a.m. near the Middle Creek Apartments on Middle Creek Rd.

State Police Sgt. Curtis Parker told KSLA News 12 that a Many Police officer was attempting to serve a warrant when the driver of a vehicle tried to run over him. The driver of that vehicle then fled on foot, and began to fire at the police officer.

Sgt. Parker says the officer returned gunfire, striking the suspect and a female passenger inside the suspect's vehicle. The female passenger suffered two gun shot wounds to her back and was flown to LSU Medical Center. She is listed in stable condition.

The officer, according to Sgt. Parker, was not seriously injured.

Police are still searching for the suspect, who may have fled on foot to a nearby apartment complex.

In addition to Louisiana State Police and Many Police, the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office was also on scene.
