Sobriety checkpoints to be conducted over holiday weekend

Shreveport, LA (KSLA) – Many people including families will be traveling this Labor Day weekend. But to ensure that motorists on the road stay safe, Louisiana State Police Troop G will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Caddo Parish between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.

Additional troopers and law enforcement officers will also be working vigorously looking for drivers who are impaired, not wearing their seatbelts, driving aggressively, and driving while distracted. The goal of this initiative is to prevent serious injury/fatal crashes, deter impaired driving, raise public awareness, and arrest impaired drivers before they harm themselves or someone else.

Louisiana State Troopers are asking motorists to make a mature decision by assigning a designated an unimpaired driver, wearing seatbelts, and driving responsibly. They also would like to remind the public of their holiday campaign: "Over the limit, under arrest."

To report driving violations you can dial *LSP (*577) to report aggressive/impaired driving or call local police.
