3 law enforcement agencies work together to nab suspected jewel thief

TYLER, TX (KSLA) – A charge of felony theft is going to a woman that allegedly stole jewelry from an east Texas jeweler. The theft happened Wednesday just after 3 p.m. at Murphey the Jeweler in Tyler.

According to Tyler Police, the caller said that a Hispanic female stole some jewelry and left the store. The caller was also able to give a description of the car: a black Ford Expedition, driven by a Hispanic male.

Investigators with the Smith County District Attorney spotted a vehicle matching that description, and were able to alert Tyler Police.

After the patrol officer was able to get behind the car at Van Highway and Loop 323, the car fled the area.

A short time later, Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office was able to locate the car and take the suspects in the car into custody. Investigators with the Tyler Police Department Crime Scene Unit and the Property Crimes Investigators responded to the scene.

The names of the suspects are being released at this time, pending positive identification by store employees.

We're told that the investigation of the Felony Theft is continuing.
