DALLAS, TX (KSLA) –The Texas Department of Public Safety is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads authorities to arresting a man who escaped from custody in Dallas, Texas over the weekend.
33-year Billy Wayne Gibson, according to DPS officials escaped early Saturday from the Wayback Halfway House in Dallas. After escaping, officials say Gibson cut off the 24-hour GPS tracking device he's reportedly required to wear at all times.
Authorities have issued an arrest warrant against Gibson for failure to comply with civil commitment requirements, which is a third degree felony. Anyone who is helping him during his escape could face criminal charges.
He's described as being 6'3" tall, weighing 250 lbs., has numerous tattoos on his arms, legs and chest, with brown eyes and black hair.
Officials say Gibson has a couple of aliases also; Billy Bruton, Billy Gibson, Tuloo Gibson, Joseph Mohan and Tulu.
Gibson reportedly has an extensive criminal history involving aggravated sexual assault, aggravated robbery, unlawfully carrying a weapon and compelling prostitution by force or threat.
DPS says he should be considered armed and dangerous.
