SPD looking for shooting suspect from July

Shreveport, LA (KSLA) - The Shreveport Police Detectives are looking for a man in connection with a shooting in west Shreveport that happened late last month. After interviewing witnesses, investigators were able to identify a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for 18-year old Charzavius Rogers of the 3000 block of Terry Street in Shreveport. Rogers is wanted on one count of illegal use of a weapon. His bond is set at $75,000.

It all dates back to the incident that happened late July. At approximately 11:48 p.m. on July 31, 2010 Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 2700 block of Amherst Street relative to a shooting. Upon arrival there, officers found 20 year Lorenzo Dunkentell suffering from a single gunshot wound to his chest. Dunkentell was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what was described as a life-threatening injury.

Detectives were immediately dispatched and learned that there had been an ongoing dispute between two groups of young men in that neighborhood. This dispute led to a large fight during which at least one participant produced a handgun and began firing shots. One of those shots subsequently struck Dunkentell in the chest.

Detectives are asking anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of Charzavius Rogers to call them at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish CrimeStoppers at 318-673-7373.
