Recalled eggs turn up in Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - State agriculture officials say Louisiana inspectors have found some eggs recalled by two Iowa farms.

John Walther - in charge of food safety for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry - said Friday that inspectors found three cases of recalled eggs.

Walther says inspectors are checking with food distributors, restaurants and grocery stores - and have not found any evidence that the eggs came to Louisiana through major distribution chains.

A half-billion eggs were recalled because of salmonella infection. Louisiana is the 15th state where they've been reported.

Recalled eggs are marked with these codes: P-1026 followed by the numbers 167 through 164; P-1946 followed by 142 to 149; P-1951, 193 to 210; P-1860, 099 to 230; P-1663, 137 to 230.
