Search continues for plane missing over Ark-La-Tex

DALLAS (AP) - The Civil Air Patrol continues its search for a small, hand-built airplane that disappeared after refueling in southern Arkansas.

Maj. Blake Sasse said the single-engine RV-7 aircraft with one person on board was en route from Ohio to Georgetown, Texas. He said he did not know where in Ohio the flight originated or the pilot's name.

Lt. Col. Ric Woolfolk said Sunday that the search was focused in the Ark-La-Tex area of northeast Texas, southwest Arkansas and northwest Louisiana. Woolfolk said an emergency signal was picked up for the first time Sunday afternoon, but it was not known whether it was associated with the missing aircraft.

Sasse said the plane was last seen about 8:40 p.m. Thursday when the pilot took off from El Dorado in south-central Arkansas. It was reported missing Friday morning after failing to arrive in Georgetown.
