Undated, TX (KSLA)- If you did not get the chance to shop during the Louisiana Sales Tax Holiday earlier this month, then get ready to get in your car and drive a few miles because it is Sales Tax Holiday weekend in Texas.
Shoppers have already started hitting the stores in hopes of landing good deals. From Friday through Sunday, most clothing and other back-to-school essentials can be purchased without sales tax. According to the Window on State Government website, the law exempts most clothing and footwear priced under $100 from sales and use taxes. Backpacks under $100 and used by elementary and secondary students are also exempt. The items purchased must be under 100 dollars.
Officials say the average shopper can save $8 for every $100 they spend. Local parents say that's more than enough incentive to hit the racks.
