US Senator hit with pie, woman charged with felony

MICHIGAN (KSLA) – Michigan authorities have filed felony stalking charges against a woman they say hit a US Senator in the face with an apple pie.

Senator Carl Levin was meeting with constituents in northern Michigan when the assault happened and the woman accused now faces 5 years in prison. She expressed anger in court and informed the judge she thought she would receive a simple disorderly conduct charge.

Levin is chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and the culprit told reporters she hoped "to send a message that liberals and democrats are just as implicated" in war as republicans.
