Rescuers honored after Red River tragedy

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – The Ark-La-Tex continues to remember and honor those involved in the Red River tragedy that happened last week.

The rescuers and recovery team were honored at Tuesday's city council meeting.

Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover and Fire Chief Brian Crawford presented the Mayor's Award of Excellence and the fire department's commendation award.

They went to the three good samaritans for their efforts in attempting to rescue the six drowning victims.

Christopher Patlan received the civilian cross for his swift actions in pulling out the lone survivor, 15 year-old Dekendrick Warner.

Nine other officers from the Shreveport Fire, Shreveport Police and Bossier Fire departments were also recognized.
