DESOTO PARISH, LA (KSLA) – Accounts have been set up at two local banks for those who would like to help with funeral expenses following the murders of two DeSoto Parish women.
Diana Knight Rivers and Virginia Knight were fatally stabbed in their home just outside Keatchie early Sunday morning. Diana Rivers estranged husband was captured in the woods later that day after a six-hour manhunt. He now faces first degree murder charges.
Five children were in the home at the time of the murders. It's believed the victims' mother, also named Virginia Knight, will take on a significant role in raising the children. Capital One Logansport Relationship Banker Heather English says that's why the idea of setting up an account to help the Knights took off so quickly. "That's the way we come together. If one of us hurts, we all hurt. And it just quickly became, 'Let's do something,' and we've had people coming in left and right making deposits, asking, 'What else can we do?'"
English says Knight is a long-time customer of the Logansport branch, and that she was unaware of the account being set up until she came in Monday morning. "She is much appreciative of everything the community is doing for her, the prayers, everything."
Donations can be made at any Capital One banking location. There, the account is set up as the "the Virginia Knight account."
