UPDATE: Harold Free is expected to appear in the Caddo Parish Courthouse today, Tuesday August 31st, nearly a month after he allegedly shot and killed his step-son following an altercation. Harold Free has hired an attorney in hopes of clearing his name, and Free is expected to claim self-defense in the case. SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – At around 11 PM Monday evening August 2nd, police were called to a home to find a man who was shot in the head by his step-father following an altercation.
21 year old Terry Johniken was taken to the hospital with critical injuries where he later passed away. The altercation took place in the 6700 block of Jefferson Paige road.
Detectives say the victim was involved in an argument with his 59 year old step-father Harold Free when Free produced a handgun and shot Johniken in the head. Authorities arrested Free and he was booked in the Shreveport City Jail with charges pending.
