UPDATE: Caddo deputies make 2nd arrest in 73 y.o. man's murder

UPDATE: Caddo Parish Sheriff's deputies have mad a second arrest in connection to the murder of 73 year-old Ernest Luttrell.

Investigators tell us a family friend of 73 year-old Ernest Luttrell 44 year-old Tina VanMoerkerque has been booked on a charge of first-degree murder.

She actually lives in a house behind Luttrell. Luttrell was found dead in his home Sunday morning, when he was returning home from church.

Investigators tell us VanMoerkerque occationally worked for the Luttrells, and reportedly admitted to conspiring with the other suspect, Erick Crain, to commit the robbery.

Our camera was on and rolling when Crain implicated VanMoerkerque, claiming he used her gun to commit the crime.

 

CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA)- KSLA News 12 has learned that Caddo deputies have arrested a suspect in connection to the murder of 73-year-old Ernest Luttrell of Keithville, Louisiana.

Deputies arrested 26 year-Erick Crain. He's in jail on a charge of first degree murder in connection to the shooting death Luttrell.

Luttrell was shot multiple times at his home Sunday morning at 12292 Greenwood-Springridge Road in Keithville.

Sheriff's detectives tell KSLA News 12 that they believe robbery was the motive in the shooting.

As we reported, Luttrell's 2005 Chevy truck was taken from the home along with five firearms.

After investigators received a tip, they obtained a search warrant for Crain's trailer earlier this morning.

Crain was then held for questioning during the search, then arrested.

Deputies say that Crain's arrest was the result of witness statements and evidence collected at the crime scene and other locations, including shoe impressions found inside Luttrell's house.

Witnesses reported seeing Crain and the stolen weapons inside Luttrell's truck on Sunday afternoon.  

The stolen truck was located this morning while deputies were patrolling a short distance from Crain's trailer. The truck had been abandoned near a gas well site in the 3100 block of Meriwether Road.
