Murder suicide suspect had history of threats

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) –Friends of Kristin Leonard say she was a bright young woman with a promising future. She worked as a nurse in the intensive care unit at Christus Shumpert Hospital, and planned to start nurse anesthetist school in August.  Leonard's life was cut short on Thursday when her ex-boyfriend, Josh Miyagi shot her in front of the gym where she worked out.

Neighbors at the apartment where she used to live told KSLA News 12 her death was tragic, but not shocking because last year they remember multiple times when Miyagi screamed outside her apartment and banged on her door at 4 or 5 o'clock in the morning. Police had even arrested him once before there.

"A misdemeanor crime. Entering and remaining after being forbidden," said Bill Goodin with the Shreveport Police Department.

Last October, Leonard filed a restraining order against Miyagi. In the details of that petition, Leonard says her ex-boyfriend pulled up to her at her gym and yelled at her, sent threatening e-mails, and multiple text messages saying he wished she was dead.

The last sentence of her petition said, "I am scared of him because he has guns and he is on steroids. He's furious because I left him, and I'm unsure of what he's going to do to me."
