Toddler dies in house fire

MONROE, La. (AP) - A toddler was killed and a teenager injured in a house fire in southern Ouachita Parish. The News-Star reports 2-year-old Brice Young was pronounced dead at a Monroe hospital Wednesday after he was pulled from the burning home by his older brother, 15-year-old Terran Kennon. Greg Thompson, Chief of Fire Prevention for the Ouachita Parish Fire Department, said Kennon was feeding and watering horses behind the house when the fire occurred. Thompson said Kennon broke through a window and grabbed the toddler and ran with him to a nearby neighbor's house for help. Kennon was treated for cuts on his hands and feet, suffered when he broke out the window. Thompson said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
