Downtown Water Main Break

Shreveport crews race to fix water main

Shreveport, LA (KSLA) – With a 'Heat Advisory' in effect for today it's not a good time to have problems with water supply.

Around 7:30 this morning Shreveport Water Dept. officials were notified that a major break occurred in a line near downtown, in the 300 block of Christian, near Sprague. Water was seen gushing down the street.

A Water Dept. spokesman says the main is at least 70 years old.

Fortunately, customers have not lost water. But, they will experience low pressure until the main is repaired.
