Following is a news release from the Shreveport Police Department:

Shreveport Police detectives have arrested two children in connection with the beating of a man found unconscious over the weekend.

At approximately 4:50 a.m. on July 11, 2010, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a welfare concern call near the intersection of W. 74th Street and Wallace Avenue. A concerned citizen reported to dispatchers that a male subject was lying on the sidewalk there. Upon arrival officers found 47 year old Ronnie D. Robinson suffering from injuries that could be consistent with being beaten severely. Robinson was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what have been described as life-threatening injuries.

Detectives were notified and based on information gathered as a result of their investigation were able to develop suspects. Investigators subsequently arrested two juveniles last night in connection with this beating and charged the males, one 12 years old and the other 13 years old, with one count of aggravated second degree battery each. Both children were booked into the Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center. Investigators believe the suspects were involved in some type of dispute with the victim during which they attacked him. Detectives stress this investigation is ongoing and there may be more arrests forthcoming.

Investigators are working at this time to contact family members of Mr. Robinson but as of this time have been unable to do so. If anyone has any information regarding the location of or contact information for a family member of Ronnie D. Robinson, they are urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
