UPDATE: A transmission line that went down earlier this afternoon has been cleared, and power has been restored for all affected customers.
UNDATED (KSLA) - According to Southwestern Electric Power Co. officials more than 6,000 Shreveport and Bossier City customers experienced a power outage Monday afternoon.
Around 2:30 p.m. officials say a logging company clearing timber either dropped a tree on or clipped a 138,000-volt transmission line from Shreveport's Wallace Lake area to South Shreveport, which ultimately caused lockouts at five substations.
As of 4 p.m. Monday SWEPCO officials continue to re-direct power so that customer's power can be restored as quickly and safely as possible while repairs are being done.
There were approximately 6,714 customers impacted by the outage in Shreveport's Southern Trace, Port of Shreveport, far South Bossier City and South Shreveport areas.
