UPDATE: SPD Officer dragged during traffic stop

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – Shreveport Police have released the license plate number of the vehicle involved in the dragging of a police officer during a traffic stop Thursday morning.  The suspect was driving a black 1991 Volvo with expired Texas plate "HHT469". The driver is described as a black male with a disheveled appearance, in his forties, about six feet tall, with a medium build and some facial hair.

The officer was slightly injured around 3:10am Thursday morning during the traffic stop in Shreveport's Queensborough neighborhood in the 2700 block of Spruce Street.

Investigators say the driver refused to get out of the vehicle when the officer ordered him to do so, after the driver could not produce any type of identification.  Officer Jimmie Minor then apparently reached into the vehicle and the suspect drove off, dragging the officer about 80 feet before he fell to the ground.  The officer was treated on the scene for minor abrasions.

Minor's family says he will return to work on light duty until Wednesday. He will then return to full duty.

Anyone with information regarding this suspect or vehicle is asked to call detectives at
318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
