SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – The body of a man found shot outside a Shreveport apartment complex was identified as Demario Lee Davis, 20, of Shreveport. Davis died Sunday after he was allegedly shot during an argument outside Kings Manor Apartments early that morning.
Davis' mother, sister, and longtime girlfriend fought back tears when speaking about their loss Monday.
"I just can't accept it. I can't believe that he's gone," said Fannie Mae Davis, Demario's mother.
Fannie Mae has struggled to deal with the loss of her son.
"I know he didn't deserve to die. And whoever did it, I hope they are punished for it."
Shreveport police are still searching for the person that shot Davis in the stomach. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
"I got a call around 4 o'clock in the morning and I woke up and my little sister told me that my brother just been shot," said Linda Davis, Demario's sister. "They let us go back and see him and I saw him dead."
Markytha Jacobs has been dating Davis for nearly three years and, according to the family, Davis tried to tell Jacobs who shot him just before he took his last breath.
"He didn't deserve to die. He didn't do anything. An argument is an argument, you don't have to shoot anyone," said Jacobs.
Davis left behind a girlfriend, baby girl, and a broken hearted family.
"I wasn't expecting for it to happen like that," said Fannie Mae.
