Update: S'port Police identify Sunday morning homicide victim

Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- Shreveport Police detectives have now identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning at a west Shreveport apartment complex.

Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to the King's Manor I Apartments in the 7200 block of Bernstein Avenue at approximately 5:07 a.m. on July 4, 2010 relative to a report of a firecrackers being heard in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered 20 year old Demario Davis in a parking lot there suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Police said that the victim was able to tell them he was riding his bicycle when he was shot. Davis was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department where he was later pronounced deceased.

The detectives who were dispatched to the scene are still working at this time to identify and apprehend the suspect or suspects who killed the victim. Police believe the firecrackers that were set off at the same time of the homicide could be related.
