S'port Police investigate Saturday morning homicide

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) –  A 20-year-old Shreveport man is dead after being shot in the stomach early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened at the Kings Manor I Apartments. At first, police were responding to a call about firecrackers being heard in the area.

That's when they found a man in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Police say he was able to tell them he was riding his bicycle through the Kings Major Apartments in the 7200 block of Bernstein when it happened around 5:00 a.m.

He was taken to LSU Health Sciences Center, where he underwent emergency surgery and was later pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made.  Police confirm they are investigating reports of fireworks being set off in the same area around the time of the shooting, and are looking into whether they may be connected.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Shreveport Police detectives at (318) 673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
