Saints "CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR" in Shreveport next week


With pride and great exuberance, Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover announced an event that is unprecedented in Louisiana sports history.

"This event is a celebration of many years of trials and tribulations in an organization that has stood the test of time and won," said Mayor Glover.

"I stand before you to confirm that the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints "Championship Tour" featuring the Lombardi Trophy will make a stop right here in Shreveport at the Shreveport Convention Center Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 10AM – 6PM.

This "Championship Tour", is being presented by The United States Marine Corps and The National Guard and will feature extensive displays celebrating the Saints' 31-17 Super Bowl XLIV victory over the Indianapolis Colts on February 7, 2010.

This stop, which is one of only 10 stops in the Gulf South Region, will be open and FREE to the public.  This tour will allow fans as well as,  members of Shreveport's "Who Dat Nation" the opportunity to view special display elements commemorating the team's championship season.

Among the notable displays that will be included on the tour will be: The Vince Lombardi Trophy, a Super Bowl display featuring Saints' MVP QB Drew Brees' Super Bowl helmet and jersey, as well as other memorabilia from Super Bowl XLIV, highlight videos, the Halas Trophy (won in the team's 31-28 NFC Championship against the Minnesota Vikings) and photos taken by official team photographer Michael C. Hebert.

There will also be displays featuring the official Super Bowl ring, an area to view memorabilia celebrating the playing career of Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee LB Rickey Jackson. In addition there will be exhibition areas including the presence of a former player and the official cheerleading squad of the Saints, the Saintsations.
