Gilliam, LA (KSLA) - Caddo Sheriff's Patrol deputies responded to the scene of a major accident involving two cars which sent nine people to different area hospitals.
The accident happened around 7:30 Tuesday night on US Highway 71 at Highway 3049 and involved a silver Honda Accord and a Black Ford Expedition. Witnesses on the scene told the deputies that the Expedition was traveling North on Highway US 71 when the Honda allegedly ran the stop sign at that intersection and then the two cars crashed.
According to police, nine people were injured. The Honda had four occupants and the Expedition had 5, all of whom were transported with injuries ranging from minor to life threatening. The driver of the Honda and the front passenger were transported by Life Air Rescue and Life Net along with two others by ground to LSU Medical Center. The other five passengers were transported by ground to Willis-Knighton North.
The Caddo Sheriff's Crash Unit is still investigating the crash and no citations have been issued.
