Bossier officer OK after being hit by truck

BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) – A burglary suspect accused of trying to run over two police officers with a pick-up truck is now in custody.

Around 4:30 Friday morning, police responded to a burglary at an air conditioning repair shop located in the 3800 block of E. Texas Street.

Police spokesman Mark Natale said when one officer began approaching one of the two suspects, the man jumped into a pick-up truck and drove toward the officer, brushing the officer's leg with the truck and running over his foot. The officer was not seriously injured.

Natale said the suspect in the truck then tried to run over another officer at the scene before taking off on E. Texas Street.

Police pursued the truck north on Swan Lake Road into the parish, where they say the suspect jumped from his truck and ran.

Bossier Police found the suspect just after 8:00 AM hiding under a mobile home in Bossier Parish off Cordell St. The suspect was bitten by a K-9 officer after he was located.

Natale says the second suspect fled from the crime scene on foot. Police are currently using K-9's to find him.

Natale also said police may request air support from the state police to help in the search.

It's not known if the suspects were able to actually steal anything from the business.

police say the suspect driving the truck could face charges of attempted first-degree murder for trying to run over the officers that responded to the scene.
