Former S'port council member arrested for DWI

Shreveport, LA (KSLA) - A traffic stop on Saturday led to the arrest of former city council member Theron Jackson.

Jackson was pulled over by Shreveport Police after being spotted driving eastbound on East Kings Highway. He was allegedly weaving in and out of traffic.

The officer who pulled Jackson over said he detected a strong odor of alcohol, gave him a field sobriety test and arrested Jackson on a charge of drunk driving.

Jackson served on the Shreveport City Council from 2002 to 2006.

Jackson was not only a former city member in Shreveport, but he is currently also a pastor at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Greenwood. Jackson also hold the position of assistant chancellor at Southern University in Shreveport.
