Early S'port morning crash kills one, injures another

Shreveport, LA (KSLA)- An early morning crash resulted in the death of one person and another one getting seriously injured.

Police were dispatched at 12:49 a.m. Saturday morning to the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Drive in North Shreveport. When they arrived, officers discovered that a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria was apparently going eastbound on Martin Luther King Drive when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver of the Ford, identified as 30 year-old Tomieka Johnson of Shreveport, was transported to LSU Medical Center in what have been described as serious injuries.

The passenger, identified as 27 year old Larry Jones of Shreveport, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

Shreveport Police crash investigators are still investigating the cause of the accident and determine the contributing factors in addition to what charges, if any, Tomieka Johnson will face.
