Wounded LA soldier to return to U.S.

CAMP VICTORY, IRAQ (KSLA) – A Louisiana Soldier was recently injured when his vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb. He is returning to the U.S. to continue medical treatment.

Louisiana National Guardsman, Spc. Kenneth D. Boyer of Pineville, LA was injured near Numaniyah in southern Iraq. This explosion also to the life of Major Ronald "Wayne" Culver of Eldorado, Ark., who was the executive officer for the 2nd Squadron, 108th Calvary Regiment of Shreveport, LA.

Doctors at the hospital on the Victory Base Complex in Baghdad, where Boyer received treatment, said he is expected to make a full recovery, and will soon be sent to Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland to receive the remainder of his treatment, including physical therapy.

"I'm just glad to be here and to have had the opportunity to serve with the Soldiers from this brigade," Boyer said. "It's truly been an honor."

He said if he had one message to send home, it would be for everyone to keep his comrades and Maj. Culver's family in their thoughts and prayers, "they need it more than anyone else right now."
