One injured, three missing in south LA boating incident

MAUREPAS, La. (AP) - The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says three swimmers are missing on Lake Maurepas and a fourth was injured when their boat - left idling - roared into gear and zoomed in circles.

Department spokesman Adam Einck says investigators were questioning 26-year-old Blake Caronna, who was rescued unharmed Saturday, hoping to get a clearer picture of where to search the lake.

Einck says 24-year-old Trey White was undergoing surgery for a pelvic injury and broken arm.

Einck says three men and two women from Ascension Parish decided to take a quick dip about two miles from shore. He says the boat went into gear as the fifth jumped into the water. It circled until it ran out of gas. Einck says another boater saw the boat and rescued White and Caronna.
